Visceratuant is a unique Defender, a type of shield from Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.

Like most smaller shields, Visceratuant has a slightly lower defense but a higher chance of block. This is a Sorceress-oriented shield as well with its +1 Sorceress skill level bonus.

Defensively, this shield is outclassed by things like Stormshield and Sanctuary Rune Word, which offer resistances and other powerful defensive properties in addition to high blocking. Offensively, this shield is outclassed by the Spirit Rune Word for those who can create it, which offers other caster-oriented bonus like mana and Faster Cast Rate.

It does offer value as a compromise between two goals, though. For sorceresses who wish to block, but are not too bothered about other defensive properties (primarily resistance), this shield is a good option to squeeze in a little offensive power as well. It also has very low strength requirement, which is a plus (in contrast, the lowest strength requirement Spirit can have is 156 strength). Its very low level requirement makes it an excellent mid-game shield, particularly for Sorceresses, who'd be hard-pressed to find anything better for quite a while.

For blocking purposes, the player should consider upgrading it, as it bestows another 12% chance to block. It also raises the strength requirement to 77, though.
